Dreamin' in the Kitchen

I'm sure I'm not the first cook who has been told, "You should open your own restaurant!" Sure, it's easy enough to say, but in reality, it's extremely hard to execute. That's why you see restaurants that open and close within the span of a few months.

If I ever did open a restaurant, I want just a small mom and pop type restaurant. I've seen it done. I wouldn't go by a set menu but rather have a daily surprise menu. I would cook what's fresh and available that day and serve it, family style, to whoever comes in. I would also only serve as many as there is food. When the food is gone, then we go home. We've had a day where the cooks made dishes that made them happy, fed them to customers who, hopefully, went away full and happy, then we go home! Sound like a great deal to me, don't you think?

The decor of the restaurant will be homey. Not country homey, mind you, but a contemporary 'homey'. It would be like visiting your very cool but rich aunt and staying for dinner. It will have have some commercial bar stools by a large bay window overlooking the garden where you can sit for drinks or an outdoor sitting area around a fire pit to sip your after dinner coffee. Doesn't that sound good already and you don't even know what you're having for dinner yet!

Dinner which will be served on great wooden dining tables surrounded by beautiful ladder back chairs like the one in the photo. I just love comfortable dining chairs, don't you?

If you've gotten beyond dreaming and want to start thinking about your restaurant, one of the places to go to for chairs and other restaurant furniture is FashionSeating.com. Checking out places like fashionseating.com and doing a whole lot of research is a wise idea if you're thinking of opening up a restaurant or any business.

Attention, Bloggers

Posted by JMom | Thursday, October 16, 2008 | | 0 comments »

Answerco, a company providing printer supplies cross-reference and cross references imaging products, IT supplies, and office products from OEM, to compatibles for the reseller; has developed a widget for bloggers that enables them to promote printers and office products through Amazon's marketplace. Bloggers can earn 60% commission from this affiliation. That's pretty awesome considering most affiliates only pay around 10% commission.

How does this work? First sign up to get the widget from the AnswerCo website. You will then be given a code for a widget that features printers and office supplies cross reference. Publish this widget on your website or blog and whenever your readers convert to a sale, that means they click on your widget and buy something, you earn a commission.

By the way, if you are thinking that this widget is going to be some huge graphic monster advertising printer supplies and office supplies like I did, you're wrong. What is going to happen is you're going to have a link on your blog that will then take you to another page that will have been configured to match your blog so that your readers will know it's still your site. It will then have a list of inventory. If they buy anything on the page, then you earn the commission. Sounds easy, doesn't it? Visit Answer Co now and learn more about this great opportunity.

More on Snacking...

vending machineThis machine is my best friend. I'm not talking about my computer, I'm talking about the
snack and soda vending machine downstairs where I go when I need some comfort. I'm almost in need of one now...

Just from my patronage alone, I know whoever owns that vending machine is making some money because there are about a hundred more just like me in this building!

The Vending Machine business can be pretty lucrative, I know. One of my best friends had one and he made pretty good money for minimal effort. He goes around to refill his machines once or twice a week and also collects the money during those times. He made as much money from his vending machines as he did from his regular job where he put in eight hours a day daily.

If you're interested in getting a Vending Machine Franchise, check out 1800Vending.com they have machines that are attractive, all-in-one snack and drink center. That means you can have one machine and sell snacks like chips, candies and gum but within that machine you can also sell drinks like sodas, juices, energy drinks and water.

If you've ever bought a snack or a drink from a vending machine, you'll know, without being a math genius, that the mark up on the items are at least 50% some of them 150%. That could only mean profit for you!
