Halloween Goodies

Posted by JMom | Wednesday, November 04, 2009 | | 2 comments »

Here are a few of the Halloween goodies my daughters made last weekend for their friends. I didn't have to lift a finger! I did have to wash a few dishes they left behind though. But that's ok, they had a great time with their friends.

There's no secret recipe for these goodies. Just some boxed cake mix and cream cheese frosting. I offered to buy the canned frosting too, but that was pushing their limits. lol! They vehemently said "NO WAY!" they think the frosting in tubs that you buy at the store is too sweet.

So, they made their own cream cheese frosting: two bars of cream cheese, one stick of butter and just enough confectioner's sugar to suit your sweet tooth.

The great thing about making the cream cheese frosting is, they could then color batches of it with different colors to get the desired result. They also used some of those cookie decorating gels that come in small tubes. That's how they got the pretty spider web design. Cute, huh?

Awesome Halloween Ideas on Friends Eat

Posted by JMom | Thursday, October 29, 2009 | | 0 comments »

If you're still looking for cool Halloween treats ideas, Check out these Halloween Recipes for Ghouls, Ghosts and Goblins on Friends Eat.

I think the finger cookies are cool but they are getting kind of old. Everyone has done them over and over again, same thing with the worm stuff. But these cute little tombstone brownies got my attention this time.

They look simple enough to make and who can resist brownies!

How was your Halloween?

Posted by JMom | Monday, November 03, 2008 | | 0 comments »

PhotobucketHow was your Halloween weekend? Did you don a costume? Or were you like me who was merely a ghoul assistant? My Halloween tasks started a full week before the big day. My girls decided they wanted to make their own costumes so they started the week before, shopping for their materials and patterns. It took them almost all week to cut out their patterns and such. Then the night before Halloween, guess who ended up staying up to finish the costumes? Mom! I was up until 3 a.m.!

Next year, I'll tell them to get their Halloween Costumes from HalloweenAdventures.com instead. They have all the styles they like; my eldest daughter made a lolita costume similar to the one pictured here and of course, my youngest, the Clone, was a witch again. It's the fourth year that she's been a witch! I sure hope she's over that by next year.

My husband was having a fit when my daughter told him what her costume is going to be. She was a gothic lolita. She actually looked really cute, but I think just the mere suggestion of "lolita" being applied to his daughter was giving him palpitations. haha!

BTW, HalloweenAdventures.com is not just for Halloween, you can also order costumes for other holidays like Christmas and Easter. If you're wondering where to get Santa or Elf costumes, this is the place.

Halloween is a Lurking

HalloweenIt's just around the corner, and before you know it, it's time to dress up them ghouls and feed on their souls. HALLOWEEN is just around the corner!

October is my youngest daughter's month. My delivery due date with her was October 31st but she came a week early so her birthday is on the 24th and she's taken Halloween as her holiday. She's already planning on her costume and what treats we're going to make on her birthday. This weekend she wants to go shop around for something to wear; although I don't know why we even bother because for the last five years she's been a witch. We spend hours going to various Halloween Costume Stores only to come home with a black dress and a witches hat. Well, except for this time when she was a geisha:

This year, I am really not up to mall hopping so I'm thinking we'll just shop online. The link above for the Halloween Adventure, for instance, offers a huge selection and variety of costumes and if you order early (before October 10, 2008), you can get free shipping on orders over $60. If you're not satisfied, they have a firm policy for quick and easy returns. I for one have been a little slow getting on the online shopping wagon, but the few times that I've done it so far, I have been very happy with the convenience it afforded me and the quality of the products I received. This just may be the start of a habit! Hey, that just gave me an idea....
habit, get it? I think I just figured out what my costume is going to be. How about you?
