LaPiS entries: Baon, Colorful and Fried

Posted by JMom | Wednesday, September 24, 2008 | | 0 comments »

I was behind on submitting food photos for the weekly Pinoy blogging event called Lasang Pinoy Sundays so I decided this past week to catch up on all three of them.

BAON - means "To-Go" or something that you take with you be it for lunch, snack or dinner. I posted these two entries of my daughter Jade's bento lunch and my own Arroz Caldo lunch.

COLORFUL - this week's theme was to submit a dish that was imbued with color and I submitted three of them. I submitted: Stirfried Chicken and Asparagus, Beef Salpicon and Cheesecake Pops.

FRIED - was the last theme so I decided to fry up some Okra!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Posted by JMom | Monday, September 08, 2008 | | 0 comments »

Rice PuddingThis CREAMY rice pudding is our entry for last week's Lasang Pinoy Sunday, a photo blogging event that features Filipino food. I love sweet rice desserts and especially this one because it's so easy to make. Whenever I get the craving, usually a couple of hours after dinner on a weekday, I can have a piping bowl within just a few minutes. Perfect comfort food for cool nights or just any night when I want something sweet and creamy.

It's another week already and there's a new theme for LaPis to post about. I haven't posted mine yet, but if you'd like to check out the Creamy Lasang Pinoy Sunday participants, click here.

Lasang Pinoy Sundays - Breakfast

Posted by JMom | Wednesday, August 27, 2008 | | 0 comments »

Bittermelon with Eggs

The theme for Lasang Pinoy Sundays (LaPiS) this week is BREAKFAST. This Bittermelon with Eggs, served up with garlic fried rice is our entry. I am missing this dish right now as our bittermelon plant didn't do so well this year. I'm not normally a breakfast person. My breakfast is usually just a cup of coffee so the rare times when we have a family breakfast is a real treat. A great way to start the day!

LaPiS #6 is Soft - Pichi Pich

Posted by JMom | Thursday, July 24, 2008 | | 1 comments »

Pichi Pichi
My contribution for this week’s Lasang Pinoy Sundays is Pichi Pichi which is soft, and one of my most popular blog posts. Why? Because it is one of the classic Filipino desserts that everyone remembers but don't ever make it because the traditional way is so labor intensive. My version, inherited from an aunt, is the easy modern version using prepackaged ingredients and, of all things, a microwave! Check it out.

Lasang Pinoy Sundays, a Photo Event

Posted by JMom | Thursday, July 17, 2008 | | 0 comments »

Lasang Pinoy Sundays is a weekly food photo event that features Filipino foods. I have been trying to improve my photography skills so I thought this would be a good way to keep me on track. When I started this blog, we simply used the little web cam that came with the computer when we first bought it. It took a while before I finally decided to buy a digital camera. Well, I got one, but really haven't tried or investigated the different features on it. I'm still learning and experimenting and already wanting a bigger and better camera. That's how it goes sometimes :) Anyway, here's my three entries to LaPiS (Lasang Pinoy Sundays) so far. A new theme is posted every Sunday, so keep a look out for them.

For the first theme, it's SUMMER FRUITS!

So let me riffle through my photos and look for an appropriately themed photo. Will be back later with an entry. Go get yours ready!
