Saffron Tiramisu

Tiramisu Ever since my sisterO gifted me with a potful of saffron and given my love of tiramisu, I had been fantasizing about Rowena's Tiramisu allo Zafferano. I'm actually starting on a new quest of trying out all the versions of tiramisu there is. I found out recently that the ubiquitous ice box cake in the south is a close cousin to the trendy tiramisu. This, our first attempt at tiramisu, was delicious! Rowena said this serves 8-10. LOL! I had to laugh at that, there's only five of us, and we finished three fourths of this bowl in one sitting. It was that good!

Continue to the tiramisu recipe...

LOL! You finished 3/4ths in one sitting????!!! Now that is what I call a very hearty appetite. I haven't made tiramisu in..ages.

Now, if you do make anything else with saffron please post about it. I still have lots of the stuff to use up.

Hi Rowena! This was sooo good, it was gone the next day. I didn't even get a second helping, the girls ate it up as soon as they got home from school.

I will definitely post it here when I make something else with saffron. I've been contemplating paella, but I really want to try something else new to use my precious little packets on ;-)

hi jmom! love tiramisu..been doing my own easy little versions esp. when i have unexpected guests! now...the mascarpone..i have been looking for this for the longest time and i can't find one in the supermarket here! can i ask for the brand name you use or packaging color at least or which supermarket do i have to go to[do i sound like a desperately-seeking-mascarpone]? lol! i want to make the real thing too! though the plain yoghurt-creme cheese-mixture is a very close substitute...thanks!!!i'll try this recipe! now...saffron...lol!

Hi Ces, that's next on my list is doing a tiramisu taste test :-) I'll try making the other versions with substitutes next time. The mascarpone, I found in the gourmet cheese section of the grocery store. In this case, Kroger. But most large chains should carry them now. Aren't you in NY? You should be able to find this easily. If you can't find it at the regular grocery store, try an italian deli or market.
