Today is Chef Jade's 12th birthday! We celebrated simply, but with lots of food. We started the day by sleeping in (yeay! for spring break), then a quick breakfast before we got ourselves dressed. We went to see Miss Congeniality 2; it was hillarious. Even The Clone liked it. After the movie, we went and had dinner at Penang, a Malaysian/Thai/Sushi restaurant, where we gorged ourselves on Deluxe Sushi Boat, Penang Wonton Soup, Chilean Sea Bass steamed with ginger and scallions, Penang Clay Pot Noodles, and Beef Chow Fun. Of course, the Clone had her usual garden salad and edamame with steamed rice. She is so anti-seafood. Wouldn't even try any of the other dishes. Oh well, more for us. The girls also tried the Malaysian Iced Tea with Milk, and they pronounced that they prefer Thai tea to Malaysian Tea. When we got home, we cut into Jade's ice cream birthday cake, courtesy of Baskin Robbins. Ah, now that was a FULLfilling day :-)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Chef Jade! We have a Penang restaurant here too and we love it. Try their spicy Shrimp next time (it's not really spicy) which they cook with sweetish alamang paste.
By the way, love the looks of your dip. Will try to make that one of these days.
Oh that birthday dinner sounds dee-lish! I am going to check out the website just to feed my greedy eyeballs...
