Happy Monday! I really thought I'd have more time to cook and blog about food this past weekend, but that was not to be. Instead, I was driving the girls all over the place, beginning in the morning until late at night. I am tired!
The most I could do was to upload some photos to my photobucket account. At least that's something, eh? Anyway, tune in, I'll be blogging these recipes in the next few days:
Chicken, Vegetables & Pasta Soup
Long Beans with Rice Noodles
Opo Squash in Tomato Sauce

Lasang Pinoy 25 - Make Your Own Bento!
Posted by JMom | Tuesday, April 01, 2008 | announcements, Lasang Pinoy | 1 comments » Ajay's Writings on the Wall is hosting the 25th edition of Lasang Pinoy and the theme is Make Your Own Bento!! The girls and I have been talking about making our own bento for the longest time. They just love those cute bento boxes! But our attempts have simply been half-hearted at best. Maybe this event will spur us to try a little harder. Look out for our attempts at bento!

December was the month to Rice to the Challenge for Lasang Pinoy, a monthly food blogging event to showcase Filipino cuisine. I was designated host of the event and I just posted the round up of the different entries. Visit my Cooked from the Heart kitchen to see all the entries.
For my own entries, I tried out three rice dishes that I love but have never cooked before:
Totong Balatong, Kutsinta and Puto.

Moving on........ and on
Posted by JMom | Tuesday, September 04, 2007 | announcements | 3 comments »Sorry I hadn't been posting much. I am getting ready to move this blog so I am looking for a template and I am still busy setting up the new site. Just to give you a heads up, the new site will be at http://www.kitchen.amoores.com.
We're still eating and I'm still cooking, just haven't been blogging about food :) I'm cooking up something different most days, learning about three lettered things like PHP, SQL, FTP and the likes.
The girls have also gone back to school; two of them in high school and one in elementary. Time is moving too fast for me to stay on schedule!

Filipino Cookbooks
I was hoping to post a few more recipes before I left. We even did a bit of holiday baking last weekend, but the christmas cookies were so good, they were gone before I remembered to photograph them!
We are gone for a long awaited trip to the Philippines, so when we return next year I hope to regale you with stories about all the food we ate and won't tell you how many pounds I gained. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and I'll catch up with you in a month or so!

The next edition of Lasang Pinoy is again just around the corner. This time around we'll be cooking in the kitchen with children. That's nothing unusual in our kitchen, since we cook almost everything together. My daughters are budding cooks with their own ideas on how they like things done so we are really looking forward to this event. I have asked them to come up with a dish each, preferably one with a pinoy touch, so I am looking forward to what they will come up with.
Whether or not you have kids to cook with, we invite you to participate on this round of Lasang Pinoy. We all were kids at one time, and some of us are still kids at heart ;-) So invite a child to cook with or just reminisce about your cooking experiences and influences as a child. Visit Iska's blog, who is graciously hosting this round, for details.
Manila Bulletin Roundtable
Posted by JMom | Sunday, July 03, 2005 | announcements, miscellaneous | 10 comments »Miss Annalyn S. Jusay, of the Manila Bulletin has graciously included us in her recent roundtable of food bloggers. She sent a few of us Filipino food bloggers questions about our blogs, and our take on food. We got a bit carried away answering her questions that she has to break up her article into two parts :-). Other food bloggers in the roundtable are: Karen of the Pilgrims Pots & Pans, TingAling of the World Class Cuisine, CeliaK of the English Patis, and Stef of Stefoodie.net.
Go check out the roundtable, part I.
Photo compliments of Karen at Pilgrims Pots & Pans.
