Dream Kitchens

Posted by JMom | Thursday, March 27, 2008 | | 0 comments »

I have a very small kitchen in a very small house so my recurring fantasy is to someday have a dream kitchen, the likes of which you only see in magazines. It would be a cook's kitchen in the Tuscan style with plenty of room for family and friends to hang out in. Oh wait, there I go dreaming again...

I get that way when I start browsing through kitchen designs like those at EW Kitchens. They have a team Kitchen Designers who will work with you from conception to completion in order to attain your dream kitchen. A sampling of their designs are available on the website and they range from traditional to contemporary including a category they refer to as transitional where the best elements from the traditional and the contemporary are blended to make a truly unique look.

If this is your first foray in kitchen design, they have a very informative resource center where you can learn the things you need to know when designing a kitchen and the questions you should ask when hiring a designer. They say that "luxury is not all about the price tag" and I agree. With good planning, excellent resources and an open mind, you can achieve the kitchen of your dreams and perhaps even more.

Leche Flan

Leche FlanThis is a super rich version of the flan, but what do you do when you have eight egg yolks to use up? If you're up to something sinfully delicious, then this is one dessert you just gotta try.

Potato, Mushrooms and Leeks Soup

Posted by JMom | Thursday, March 20, 2008 | , | 0 comments »

Potato, Mushrooms & Leeks SoupWe love soups in our house, whatever kind. Some of us like it meaty and chunky, and some of us like it light and smooth. The Clone, my youngest daughter, usually does not like mushrooms; but when blended into a soup like this one, she'll eat it! The girls loves soup! The great thing about this kind of soup is that you can sneak in all kinds of veggies in there and they will never know it :)

The Best Curried Lamb Ever

Posted by JMom | Tuesday, March 18, 2008 | , | 0 comments »

Lamb Curry If you like curries and if you like lamb, then this dish is for you. It was so infused with spices it takes you to nirvana with just one taste. An additional layer of flavor in this dish is the use of plantains instead of potatoes. Green apples are also a pleasant addition. The layers of flavor just keeps on going. You'll be in a curry stupor by the end of this meal!

Marigold RiceThis is one delicious rice! While the title says spicy, it is not the burn your mouth kind of spicy, but rather the aromatic, take you to heaven kind of spices. We paired up this golden rice with a Lamb Curry and it was to die for!

Raita Cool Down

Posted by JMom | Tuesday, March 11, 2008 | , | 0 comments »

Raita Cool DownThis is an Indian condiment of cucumber, tomatoes, cilantro and yogurt. It is the perfect cool down to a very spicy lamb curry dinner we just cooked up in our kitchen. This condiment is not just for curry though, I can see this as a perfect side dish for grilled meats. Hey, barbecue season is almost upon us again!
